My sister in law Kate, Bill’s Aunt Dantzel and I flew down to California for the day to celebrate Kate’s birthday. We had a great time. We went on several rides and had a very enjoyable day. It’s amazing how much easier it is to do Disneyland with out kids. I love my kids, but it was great to have a break with Kate and Dantzel.

First Day of School
Alyssa has started 2nd grade. Dantzel is in Kindergarten. She was very excited to get on the bus and ride with the big kids. The twins are doing a neighborhood preschool group one day a week. I can’t believe my babies are growing up so fast.
Twins 3rd Birthday
We celebrated the twins birthday at home with family. They were most excited to have a Happy Birthday cake! Gabi had a Sleeping Beauty cake while Brooklyn had a Cinderella cake.

Planetarium and a Train Ride
Grandma Hansen and allllllll of the Hansen Grandchildren, except baby Emery, hopped on a train and rode to the Gateway. My first time, I know, pathetic, right? We had a fabulous time at the Planetarium and the water splash pad. Thanks for the great day Carolyn. The Gateway would also be a great place for shopping, of course children excluded. Otherwise, the word nightmare comes to mind.
Bear Lake and Caving or Spu-something
We took a couple of weekends to enjoy the emerald blue water of Utah’s Bear Lake. Of course, this included the “infamous” (more than famous) raspberry shakes. Kate and chillins also joined us for the sea bathing and shakes.
Fish Lake, Utah
A place of nostalgia, great fishing, beautiful lodge, great camping and few mosquitoes I finally broke my 5 year curse of not catching a fish. Thanks to my dad, the fish whisperer, I was able to once again make my mark on fish lake’s finned population.
Oquirrh Mountain Temple
My friend Jean and I took our children to the Oquirrh Mountain temple open house. It is of course a gorgeous building. The children had a wonderful time. Dantzel loved the baptismal font and the cookies at the end of the tour. Alyssa loved the beautiful white celestial room. I particularly enjoyed all of the tile instead of carpet. Tile cleans up much better than carpet. Take it from a mother!
Ben Lomond Hike
Bill and I had a romantic hiking date, meaning no children. It was a 16.4 mile hike with a peak altitude of 9712 feet. We had a great time and it only took my legs a week to recover. We decided that Cheetos are the snack of choice on a long hike.
4th of July 2009
For the 4th of July we participated in our very own North Ogden neighborhood parade/party. We also attended our annual water softball BBQ at aunt Dantzel’s. We ended the day with glorious fireworks at Weber High School. We had a terrific day and we’re grateful to live in this great nation.
Summer Swim Lessons
The girls had a great time getting wet and discovering their aquatic natures. Except for Brooklyn who wouldn’t even go in with her teacher most of the time.
California/Disneyland Vacation
We had a fabulous visit with family and at the Happiest Place on Earth!
(After the Small World ride, Dantzel let us know her feelings about the ride)
"I'm sick of that stinkin' song!"
Bill didn't care for it much either.
Dantzel’s 5th Birthday
We celebrated Dantzel’s birthday in California with Grandpa, Grandma, and aunt Dani. Aunt Dani made her a strawberry cake with chocolate covered strawberries. She LOVED it!
Bill’s Grand Canyon Adventure/Craziness
Rim to Rim to Rim, that means 44 miles in 20 hours and 2 minutes.
Bill and some buddies from San Diego embarked on this insane adventure from June 5th to 6th and survived! Way to go Bill, Ralf, and Mark! Here is proof:
Please, Do not feed the wildlife. May carry disease.
Sign says: Warning, do not attempt rim to rim in one day. (Or rim to rim to rim in one day). Ah well.
The Devil’s Staircase to Hell!
